Spontaneous and Spontaneous Timed Modes

In addition to standard CPAP mode, spontaneous and spontaneous timed modes allow the device to respond to automatic variables or by manual triggers. In this way, the device ensures that its user receives sustained ventilation support regardless of events or circumstances. The machine will adjust automatically to patient needs while still allowing for manual adjustments when necessary.

Spontaneous Mode: Tracking each breath, DreamStation S/T Spontaneous mode provides pressure relief during the breathing cycle of inhaling and exhaling. This keeps therapy going during shifts in breathing rates and/or patterns, responding automatically to establish a suitable pattern.

Spontaneous Timed Mode: The DreamStation S/T Spontaneous Timed mode will increase pressure during inhalation and decrease pressure during exhaling. This ensures a Bilevel system suited for patient comfort and ease of breathing. In addition, a Breath Rate/Rise Time setting can initiate breathing if a breath is no longer detected within a specific, pre-set time-frame.

Heated Humidification

The DreamStation S/T includes integrated heated humidification to increase patient comfort and help manage any possible rainout issues within the tube or mask. The heated humidifier provides consistent humidity and includes dry-box technology to reduce the chance of internal leaks or condensation. The DreamStation S/T also includes two modes: Standard and Adaptive. The Standard mode provides a constant humidity level, while the Adaptive mode adjusts the humidity level based on the ambient humidity of the therapy setting.

Digital Auto-Trak

The Philips DreamStation S/T includes Digital Auto-Trak technology to automatically adjust the triggering and cycling mechanisms during pressure support ventilation (PSV). Auto-Trak increases patient-ventilator synchrony and reduces the discomfort that can arise from leaks or unmatched changes in breathing. By tracking changes closely and responding immediately, the DreamStation S/T will intercede during life-threatening events, but will also remain synchronized with the patient to maintain high comfort levels.

Advanced Event Detection

With Advanced Event Detection algorithms, the Auto-Trak system is able to recognize even the slightest changes in patient breathing. Once a change is detected, the system can respond in the crucial period of initial gas exchange. These features make the DreamStation product line some of the most advanced ventilation therapy devices available.

Inspiratory and Expiratory Pressure Support

Inspiratory and Expiratory pressure support settings maintain a balance to aid in patient tolerance and training, and thereby increase compliance over time. For a BiPAP device to work properly, the inspiratory pressure must be maintained at a higher level than the expiratory pressure to ensure that bi-level flows are synchronized with patient breath rates.
